Last spring, I designed and ran a writing workshop called Finishing Lines, which is focused on supporting writers at any stage of a writing project. It was one of the most powerful groups I’ve run and been a part of, and has led to all sorts of connections among participants. I am planning to offer a new session soon, so look out for that, and if you have interest, please feel free to shoot me an email (badhabitswritingacademy@gmail.com) and let me know or ask questions.
The Finishing Lines cohort meets periodically to check in, and we did that this week. This was the first time we’ve met since fascists took over the government, and it was very moving to get together and hear how this era is impacting people. (Not surprisingly, some of us are struggling our way through.)
I asked people to share their tips and what’s been useful for them in the hellscape. I jotted them down, and here they are, in no particular order. I’m guessing we have all done some of these things, and maybe there’s something on this list that will resonate with you.
Feel free to add your tips in the comments section!

In addition to your list, I need humor and Andy Borowitz comes through for me. I love his headlines, like: "Trump forced to listen to 45 minutes of Balalaika music after Putin put him on hold during a phone call." (May not be the exact quote, but close.)
Thanks Aaron
Great list! Read history and biographies! Folks have been here and worst before.
Remember—this too shall pass.
Bubbles baths
Sit in nature
